Fear of...
getting hurt
hurting someone
looking like a goof
not knowing what to do
not being in good enough shape
not being flexible
commitment, of not being able to stick with it
being too old
the unknown
the teacher
the test (or performing in front of others)
being themselves
confronting their demons
choosing the wrong school
wasting the teachers time or slowing down others
loosing face when asking something already explained in the past

Don’t worry about these feelings; they are natural reactions to beginning something new, especially something perceived to be challenging or demanding. The important thing is to see them for what they are so you do not let them defeat you.

Recognizing that these to shall pass with the training is half the way to resolving them. The other half is to follow the leader, breathe, relax, and smile.
Overcoming fear or apprehension during the training is invaluable in dealing with stress, change, new situations, and other challenges in the rest of your life.

“White is symbolic of the beginner’s mind. It is pure, simple, and empty of Taekwon-Do knowledge. It reminds us to be ready to discover and learn.”
-Tadashi Nakamura

“At this belt level you must allow learning to happen.
This involves patience and keeping a sense of humor about your abilities.”
 –Iedwab and Standefer
